Spring IS coming!

Yes, spring just might get here! I think it was only 2 weeks ago that the ground was still covered in snow! And now look- Grass! Today was such a beautiful day - no coats! Ahhhhh.....

So living right by a public building does have it's advantages. All winter they would come with their big snow plows and clear their 'parking lot' which is also our drive way.So nice of them to dig us out all winter long. The downfall is that they just pushed it all to one side... our back yard. So for the last few days I have been 'raking' rocks and pebbles out of our grass and into piles as I have waited and waited for the ENORMOUS pile of snow to melt. Well, it's just about gone. You can see what's left of it in front of Jared. Woo-Hoo! So when Jared got home from work today I said "For FHE we're shoveling rocks!" (I don't think he was quite as excited as I was.) We didn't get it finished, but it will be this week, and then our beautiful back yard grass can grow!

Anyways, just had to post the pic of Trenton 'helping' daddy shovel.

Combined Activity

Just finished up our Youth Combined Activity. We had a relay race, boys against the girls. Part of the race was to be blindfolded and get an egg out of the back of the truck, then try and maneuver the maze, and quickly try and fill a jug that has holes in it, then tag your next teammate! Their goal was to get a dozen eggs through the maze.

At first it was easy to get the eggs, but as time went on, they had to crawl through more and more broken eggs to get to the good ones way up in there. All while blindfolded.

A couple times the kids dropped their eggs and had to try and find them with their teammates screaming "Left! Left! No, your OTHER left!!" HA!

The water was SOOOOOO COLD! But they did it, they kept pouring water into their bottles as fast as they could to beat the water draining out of the holes.

Trying to get through the maze as the adult leader was beating you with a pool noodle!

Trenton sure caught onto the noodle-beating pretty quickly! He's so 'boy'!

Here's a bit later as she's crawling though 3 broken eggs trying to get up to the good ones.

The boys won so I told them I'd get a picture and just before I could Dave smashed an egg on his son's head!

And here we all are. It was such a fun activity. Lots of cold wet gooey slimy fun!
